Hello gentlemen, I have cut and pasted an enquiry from a the [email protected] news group wondering anyone could ID the engine for them. Thanks in advance, Regards, Dave Carter. Can anyone identify the Villiers marine(?) engine in the attached photo. One of the visitors to my web site emailed it to me to see if I could work out what model it was so he can order a manual. Hi to everyone. I need help in identifying this motor. Some time in it's life it has been fitted with a WICO Magneto which I believe has been fitted in place of the Igniter system. It is complete except for the Exhaust Manifold and turns over quite freely with good compression. Any idea's? Regards, Dave

"It is complete except for the Exhaust Manifold" Hello Dave, I don't know what it is, but I wouldn't say it was complete. That water pump is either not from that engine or there is a bracket missing. The valve rocker gear is home made and the valves are modern ones with collets. There is a bronze bearing on the end of the camshaft that is attached to nothing. Can't tell from the photos, but that steel plate is probably a fabrication. Does it have any welding. Welding equals non-original. Are you sure about the low tension ignition. From the photos I can't see where an ignitor could be fitted. None of this means it is not an interesting piece of machinery and well worth owning. Eric |
