Sulzer is a famous marine propulsion 2stroke engine on board a merchant ships. i would like to know about how the reversing of old model sulzer engines such as RD & RND is carried out? is there any web page for regarding this? |

Sailed with Sulzer engines, if I remember right, camshaft was rotated 180 deg. See sulzer marine engines on the web. |

I m basically an steam engineer. Last ship sailed was VLCC with Man B&W S80MC. I m doing my motor classI now. I was asked about old sulzer engines, for which had no much clue, as i have worked in steam ships only. I need to know whats differece between RND & RND M engines? please help |

Abbreviation RTA, RND, RD means nothing. It’s name of Diesel type. Abbreviation MC (MAN B&W) means nothing. L – Long (L60MC) S – Superlong (S60MC) C – Compact (S60MC-C) E – Electronically controlled (S60ME-C – superlong, 60 cm bore – diameter of cylinder liner, Electronically controlled – without camshaft, compact – short two stroke diesel engine). RT-flex (Wartsila-Sulzer) means Electronically controlled (common-rail) two stroke diesel |
