Can anyone tell me what kind of motor these boats have? The only marks that are readily seen are the words fireball and 188HP. I think it is either a GM or Gray marine motor but I am not sure. I want to buy a replacement crate motor but I need to know which motor will interchange and bolt up in all the right places. I am not a boat guy but I do know a little about engines and this one seems pretty standar, except for the flywheel being on the front??
I have attached a pic of the boat

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Randy

Larry, thanks for responding. I am out of town this week and cannot take a picture of the engine. I had that picture on my phone from when I picked it up. I found a picture of the engine that closely resembles mine. It looks exactly like this one except the distributor and flywheel are on the front of the motor.
I will take a picture of the engine when I get home.
Thanks again for the help!

The above pic is a Rambler 327. They made a real nice marine engine

Thanks! The picture above is not a picture of my engine though. It looks like the picture above only mine has the distributor and flywheel in the front. Do you know which motor I have?? And which motor will interchange with it?

Compare the valve covers. They are the give away to the Rambler engine. If yours is a Rambler it won't interchange with anything else. (that I remember that is) Been many years since I worked on one.
