NO your are on your own
High season in Mystic. Nobody gets anything except....
Look in Groton, New London or East Lyme.
I can get you a 65.00 rate in a Red Roof Inn an hour away if you want.

Richard I don't think so why not ask Scott Noseworthy? We take our trailer and start at the Seaport Campgrounds in Old Mystic. We are planning to be there hope you will be able to make it.

John,
Thanks
I was looking for that address. In the last years it has been the cheapest. Also check the Days Inn in Groton. I think it is on Rt 12. Also about 8 or 9 miles.

Thanks Guys !

I clicked on ORBITZ one of the ads on the right hand column here- they list all the different Inns and mileage, rates etc !

For many yrs running boats and aircraft calculating fuel burn became a habit, its about 4000 miles round trip to Mystic, aprox 265 gals of diesel or about $800.00 cost ! The second day on the road from the D.C beltway I can see the big house off to the left through the trees I'll salute the reigning (pols ?)with an appropriate gesture !

Sort of reminds me of the old joke about the two foxes that found themselves in the hen house when the farmer was away' one asked the other "What do we do now ?" the answer "Anything we want to ! " -- There's two oil men in the hen house not sure if its over yet !

If the creek don't rise I'll see Ya'll in mystic .

Ernie

Traditionaly the problem you mention above was
controlled by "Marriage" if it continued after that then one would " buy a boat" and that would pretty much guarantee the remedy !

I prefer the marine junk method, will put some in the truck before heading to Mystic !

I have been tracking down info on the Kriebel Marine engine made in Libertyville,IL. by the Wm. Laycock Co..I'm also checking for a copy of his 1889 patent info. Andrew Menkart mentions that the Mystic Seaport Engine Expo lists a Kriebel engine in the collection in the North Boat Shed. I would really appreciate it if any of you engine buffs who go to that show would take a picture of Mystic Seaport's Kriebel and e-mail me a copy. My Kriebel is a 2-cylinder model, and the only other picture I've seen is the Montgomery Ward (Reading), which is a one-cylinder model.
Thanks ever so much. My email: [email protected]

Keith,

I have some pictures of Harriet's engine that I could post if she gives me the okay.

Her Kriebel engine is a vertical steam engine, stationary, not marine (I think). But from the research that Harriet has done on Kreibel it seems that they built marine engines.

I could post it in a new thread. Is that okay with you Harriet?

Andrew,
I think re-posting to a new thread is a good idea. There are a lot of times where a thread takes a totally different tangent and it would be nice if the subject mater would all be relative.

Hi! New here...I was at Mystic this year with family and it was a wonderful show. The show itself was really well put together and the weather was perfect!

I have tons of pictures of probably everything (and then some!). I don't know what would be the most interesting but I'll post a few and if there's anything specific anyone wants to see I'll be glad to post more. I might have to do a couple posts so bear with me...
