I have a Phantom Four-45 that has lost oil pressue after I changed oil to mulit Viscosity Pennsoil. What do you think happened and what should I do. I would look at replaceing it with a rebuilt one and then having this one rebuilt if someone has one let me know of if you know someone that will rebuild mine or fix it let me know. Thanks Rick |

Did the pressure drop completely or just at idle? I'm not familliar with your engine, but it's possible the pressure regulator could be stuck open. On some engines this is accesable from the outside, usually a piston type valve with a spring. Look for a plug type cap near the oil filter. It's also possible the the pickup screen is clogged, this would require removing the pan to clean. |

If you allso changed the oil filter it could be letting too much oil flow through. This is a common problem with new cheap made filters. With the bypass oil system you have, the oil can either go to the engine or go through the filter. |

Years ago I had a similar problem with my 1959 A/C D-14 farm tractor. Changed the oil & filter and had no oil pressure. The problem was I had inadvertantly thrown away the prssure pipe that runs up the center of the filter when I took out the dirty filter. Without the pipe, there was no oil pressure. Check to see if you have a tube in the center of the filter base and if not go find the old filter and look for the tube. |
