Does anyone know of any company that might provide parts to build a "haul-up shaft" for a dory? |

It depends upon how big your dory is, but the DisPro device is a complete system - prop housing, bearing, shaft, flex joint and haul up skeg and lever. Look in the book - the Greatest Little Motor Afloat or look at the dsipro.ca or dippy.com web sites and you'll get an understadning of how this thing worked. There are spare, re-conditioned devices around but they ain't cheap. There is also a limitation on how much power you put through the flex joint . They are design for about 3 HP at about 800 rpm. and they use a 3/4 in diameter shaft. Because they are iron ( housing) and steel(Shaft) and bronze ( bearings, you might find it trouiblesome to run in salt waer. miro |
