Can you give me a discription of the engine? When you say 27 horsepower it could be the Palmer P-60 which is basically an IHC tractor Cub LO-Boy 4 cylinder block with marine trim. Very good engines and the only part that is a real problem is finding an exhaust manifold. All the other parts are not hard to find but you wont find them looking for Palmer parts. Look for IHC tractor not truck parts. If the engine is a salt water engine and the exhaust manifold is still useable you can have a IHC Cub Lo-Boy tractor block rebuilt using your crankshaft with the reverse gear drive spline in place of the tractor crankshaft. Any tractor engine rebuilder will have no problem using your marine crankshaft as it is the tractor crankshaft gound on the reverse gear end for the drive spine to the reverse gear. Don't talk Palmer talk IHC Cub LO-Boy C-60 engine. Not Cub Cadet engine that is a totally different engine. Save all the marine trim and you will be back in business with as good as new engine. There is a wealth of info on this page uner Palmer so I suggest you go to that section and look for P-60 AKA M-60 Don't spend a penny on it if you don't have a good exhaust manifold is my advice. You know what free advice is worth. |
