hi i'm robert my dad got me a 4.4 hp two stroke two cliender crysler out bord for x mas he got it used whea we got it. it had no spark so we cleaned the points and it has spark now it started up run nice so i took it to the lake when i got ther it whoudent start so i take it home i find its flooded the next day i try to start it after about 50 pulls it fires but!!! sounds like crap missing bogging out so i cleaned the carb and put new plugs in it the missing stops but still bogs carb is clean needle and seat is good. can any one help please i'm stuk my email is [email protected] |

Robert, It sounds like the float is sticking open in the carb and allowing it to flood. Check the carb for float height, make sure the float floats, float should be really free to move up and down. Does fuel run out the carb when the engine stops. Does it smoke a lot (mostly black soot type smoke)? It seems that it is flooding. also try adjusting the jets if there are adjusting screws. also check the point setting. The gap should be around .016-.018. Make sure both points are set the same. Could be timing problem if it has adjustments. I would look to the float first. Hope this helps. |

I had the same problem with an other chrysler engine, and i found out that the flywheel shifted so the timing was of, happend for no reason! maybe an idee to look at. succes!! marc |
