Would a Wico XH1295C, serial # is 410788 fit on a Palmer BH-25. The magneto I have (XH2058B) has damage to the case. Large chunk cracked out of it from the stop switch hole to the edge where cover begins. All the pieces are there, but i don't know if it can be fixed. I found an XH model on eBay and wondered if it could be adapted. I believe it comes from a John Deere. I would really rather repair mine, but....

You can clean the edges of the breaks and use JB Weld to fix yours. I don't know if the other mag will fit.
Hope this helps

thanks, Ernie, I will definitely try that. Is there anything else I need to do to get it working at peak? What goes wrong with these magnetos?

These mags usually work real or not at all. I have had real good luck by cleaning the points real good. Take them out of the mag and file them if need be. Put them back in and set the gap. Around .020 i think. The condenser and coil rarely fail. When testing any mag or coil make sure you have some place for the spark to go. Never let it make spark to an open circuit. If you need a coil or condenser you can get them here.

In the process of cleaning your mag DO NOT remove the magnetic rotor.
Hope this helps

The point gap on the multi cylinder XH's is .014 to .016.Some Xh's can be reverse rotation.

Make sure any replacement mag has the same rotation as the current mag. Not all mags can be made to run either direction.

Well, thanks guys. I have a very low bid in on that mag, so if I get it, not much lost. there was another new one that went for $122 on eBay 3 days ago. i had bid 120, but the winner nipped in at the last minute. Now i am glad I lost out, because I would much rather make the original work. Both the mags on eBay have the kill switch on the opposite side to the one I have now, so perhaps they are wrong. Just learning.
thanks again.
