I have a 1960 Century Ski Dart with a Gray Marine 109 (6 Cyl) gas engine. Engine ran fine last year but won't crank now. I checked a spark plug by pulling from Cylindar and looking for spark and no luck. Then backed to checking for spark from Coil (UC-15); again no luck. Coil had oil in it and I replaced it. ran the spark check again and no luck. The engine turns ovder fine and starter engages fine by turning the belts for crank shaft, etc. The coil has a wire run directly from the key starter that has current runnign when the key is on (wire connected to positive pole on coil). The negative pole on the coil has a wire from the distributor to the coil (also has a positive electical flow when the key is on). I have no idea where to go from here. |

Lightly file the points then clean them. I bet your spark will be fine. Roger DiRuscio |

I agree with roger. If you crank the engine over with the cap off you should see small sparks at the points. If not do the cleaning over. The coil connections are correct for a negative ground system. |

Thanks guys, tried that and replace a fuse near the ignition, got spark and cranked. I had reversed the firing order but got that cleared up. Great advice for a non-mechanic. |
