My 1954 Chris-Craft has a 4 cyl. 60 HP engine that is unrepairable. They also were sold with
95 HP and a 105 HP six cyl. engines (Hercules)
Does anyone know what models these six cyl. were and what would be a good (newer) engine to repower my boat with. My boat is a straight drive,not a V drive.....Thanks for your help.....Brian. |

Theere are plenty of boats running with re-built 1950's engines today - I have one ( 4 cylinder 23 HP) and I used to have a boat with a 6 cylinder - 105 HP.
My suggestion is for you to scout out engine rebuilders and get a proper engine for your boat. The Antique and Classic Boat Society publications usually have ads for engine rebuilders. The engines are good simple machines that work well if you treat them right. You should try to keep about the same HP if you can and not oveerpower the hull.
The nice thing about the older engines is that they are straight drives that will likely fit the engine mount arrangements quite easily.

I have a pair of used chrisler aces 6 cyl. They came out of a 1947 Chris Craft One was just rebuilt about a year ago. I have the papers from the rebuilder if interested. |

your engines are probably hercules model K, the K model came in different hps.in different years 95 hp. 100 hp.& 105hp. many variations of the K model were made 120hp. &131 hp. |

First why is your Chris Craft B not rebuildable? Next is Chris Craft was notorious for underpowering thier boats. The 95 hp is a Chris Craft K and the 105 is a KL. How big is your boat? All we do is rebuild antique and classic marine inboard engines, we literally have 75 plus K series engine cores in stock! If you want more power we offer improved performance on basically all the engines we do, as an example the Chris CRaft Kl rated at 105, on it's very best day, we put out at 140hp.
