I am considering the purchase of a Crown Point Dory. For those not familiar, She is a Gaff ketch cruising dory, based loosely on the St. Pierre dories. She is currrently set up with an outboard well. I would prefer an inboard, something one lung, slow putt...putt, you get the idea. I am also wondering about setting up a lift up shaft, as on the St. Pierre boats. I am concerned about turbulance around the tunnel effecting the sailing performance, but since I live on the outer banks of NC, where the water is spread ever so thin, I like the idea. thanx for any advise. |

I need some information on the Crown Point Dory. Where is the factory, when were they built and how many? Did they come with glass over wood construction from the factory? Are there any pitfalls with this vessel?

I am not familiar with the "Crown Point Dory", but ... if you want some very complete information on Dories of all kinds, I suggest John Garnder's The Dory Book |

Crown Point Dories were built by Emerson Willard. He lives in Wilmington, NC. He is now retired, but you can reach him at 7727 Masonboro Sound Road

There was no "factory" Mr. Willard had an old chicken house that became his shop. You should call him if you are still considering the boat. He is a nice guy and is happy to answer your questions.

I had the very great pleasure of owning a Crown Point dory and would be glad to discuss it. I was forced to sell her because of illness. I have fully recovered am seriously in the market for another. I live in the Big Bend area of Florida where the water is thin and this boat is perfect. Anybody out there with a Willard boat they want to sell? Lani Peck |

For what it is worth, I have just purchased a 26ft. Crown Point Dory and am shipping her south to FL this coming week from Wilmington, NC. I found out about her on a tip from Mr. Willard. She is a real boat. Lani Peck |

I have a crown point dory for sale, She is a great boat and gets lots of attention when under sail, she is 26' and has a 18" draft 7' beam and height of masts are 25' (Gaff rigged cat ketch) the reason for the sale is I have a wife and 2 kids with all of us aboard its a little cramped on board more than a day or two, but for 2 people, I have sailed for 4 or more days with no problems of being cramped, with the 18" draft and the mast being only 25' you can go places other sailboats don't dare. I have really enjoyed owning this boat but I need to move up to something bigger. ( e-mail me for pictures ) |

I posted my boat in Nov 04. She is still for sale I'm asking $3500.00 for her, and that includes outboard motor 4 stroke Yamaha. This boat only needs some cosmetic work paint varnish and 2 toe rails replaced but is in good shape and floating on a mooring ball presently. I purchased the only 30' Dory made that year, built by Emerson Willard. I owned "FREEBIRD" Til 1980, When she was purchased in the "FLORIDA KEYS" I Would love hear about her whereabouts! |

i have ducati out board engine , one cylinder, is any body know any thing about that, i think it is old since 30 years ago, in a fully good conditions , working. |

I owned a 30' Crown Point Dory (Ketch Rigged) in 1975.Which I sold in 1980 while raising a family. Anyone out there that may know the where abouts of one of these fine vessels for sale. They were hand made by Emerson Willard of Wilmington N.C. |

I have a 30 foot Crown Point Dory. It has wooden spars, tanbark sails and an outboard well.. Ballast and centerboard. have been removed Located in NE Florida. Anyone need any or all of this boat? |
