The local antique gas engine show was this past weekend (fri-sun). We set up on Saturday and ran both engines about 5 hours OK. This last week I fixed several problems great and small on both these engines leftover from last year. Emmons: had to remake the insulator on the fixed point of the M&B which I made from pheonalic (sp?) this time. Had to braze an extension on the mixer check valve lift adjustment so I could close the valve all the way down (to idle slower). On the Dunn: I made a nice oil spray deflector from galvanized to match the side panels. This kept the oil off the hot exhaust box--no more smoke. The timing alignments I made last year seemed to be fine. Both cylinders fire within a few degrees of each other BTDC. The thing does not run "smooth" but I'm thinking that might be due to the fact that the two cylinders fire one after another and then they have the empty exhaust and intake cycles before the firing resumes. Took some pictures of two small C.N. Cady singles if anyone is interested I could email them. |
