Here is a small brass carburetor I bought a few days ago. The thought of passing up a carburetor and eventually finding a marine engine missing that specific carburetor is too much. So, I buy these things without knowing what they fit. Toquet is one I haven't seen before. Anybody know what this carburetor fit?

Seems to me this is not the very rare and classic toquet with its unique recess on the flywheel rim with a slight radius in the rim itself. Wasn't Toquet out of the Boston area?? |

By 1902 Sintz Had made and sold marine engnes under at least 3 different Co. names, in 1902 this engine was the sintz sold under Wolverine Name.
Benjamin L.Toquet was issued patents on ignition and engine design. this 1902 ad is an en-bloc design. 1902-05 They had the Connecticut address.
This 1906 Toquet ad has the New York address.
By 1908 The Stanley Co. had taken over Toquet, emmons tag was also on these engines.
In 1911 Specialty Manufacturing was making these engs, and by 1921 Sutter Brothers had succeeded with manufacturing control. |

I'm emailing Andrew with a reduced scan of a 1911
Toquet (all new design) new address. I always thought those Toquet carbs belong to that series of engine. The 1902-05 "original" Toquet's used that super odd-ball mixer that is shown under the
"Emmons" I couldnt get the size down to under 50 K (I'm working with a 2.5Mb scan and I can't rescan right now. Perhaps A will be so kind as to post the picture |

You can see that this 1911 2Cyl has a Scheibler but I bet they used the marked "Toquet" carbs on some other(maybe earlier) engines. Does anyone have a later image?

Not to beat a dead horse but if you look at the images of the 1902-05 Toquet twin in this thread you will see the engine from the mixer side and that "T" shaped pipe-looking thing is another style (for the multi cylinder units) of odd Toquet mixer. |

Is the little Toquet carburetor I posted here even the same company that sold the engines also posted in this thread? The addresses are all different! Would anyone venture a guess as to the date of this carburetor. Was it intended for use on marine engines? Multi cylinder engines? Automotive use? |
