Hicks offered an optional generator arrangement, with friction wheel drive off the flywheel. The attached image shows a version probably mounted on the deck or beam adjacent to the engine... another one is mounted on-engine, but also with the friction drive.
Question: Anyone recognize the type of generator depicted here? Looks to be sealed for marine use... maybe those are brush covers on the front face? It's secured by a strap, no "ears" like you see on automotive generators.

I recall seeing an aftermarket pump from before 1914 with a similar friction drive, and I know Vivian made a very similar generator setup later in their gas engine production.
Would this be in the 6v or 12v era? |

Hicks made their own friction drives, and even their own bilge pump (I have the drawings)... it's the make of the off-the-shelf generator they pictured above I'm wondering about.
It's drawn in detail (1926 drawing), so likely represents the actual recommended part... even though many owners would grab whatever was available in later years for service replacements... I have one photo of a Delco sealed generator (as used for marine and farm applications) strapped in, in place of this whatsit.
I see here:
- Screw caps on the front face (pulley end) for brushes- axial brushes not radial?
- Deep drawn body cans with those rounded corners.
I've seen hints of similar cans in a few American-Bosch and Dodge Bros parts... but no images of this exact generator.
