I'm new at this and I just bought a 55 Capri 19' with no engine..can any one tell me what I can use in this boat..I have the transmission. I believe it had a K series engine in it. I have looked at several engines on Ebay..some M series and a K-100....I'm not sure what I should do...will these fit?? will they be large enough?? Any info would be helpful..or should I rebuild a used engine or buy a rebuilt one. |

Hi Sindo, If you have the hull number of your boat (CP-19-???), you can call the Mariner's Museum (http://www.mariner.org/library/chriscraft/index.php) and request a copy of the hull card for your boat. The hull number can be found on the ID plate on the inside of the engine hatch, stamped on the hatch frames and usually the seat backs. This will tell you most of the information regarding original hardware, colors, dates and locations. Does your boat have a oval shaped chrome cover on the engine hatch that is NOT a vent? This cover would be port of center and a few inches from the front endge of the hatch. If you do have this cover, then the engine in the boat was a CC model KBL 131 HP flat head 6 with 3 Zenith down draft carbs. Otherwise it could be the 120 HP KFL. Good luck! Cheers, Lew The West Coast Sterling Guy! |
