Hi. I have recently built a narrowboat for use on UK canals. I have an old Petter PJ3W stationary engine that I am in the process of marinising. I have connected up gearbox and drive to prop shaft but am still missing the variable speed governor weights. I have the fixed speed weights that are installed in the engine but am having great trouble finding what dimensions they need to be machined down to. It has pretty fine tolerances because the manual states a weight difference of not more than 1 gramme. Can anyone help with these dimensions please |

You should be able to vary the speed of the stationary version in the same way as the marine, there's not that much difference at all and I'd be surprised if you cannot just fit a lever/control the the existing governor housing lever and go with it. I've got the PJ handbooks, I'll have a look at them when I have a minute and see what gives. Peter |
