Does anyone have a address or source for plugs for early marine engines ? I spent the entire morning checking the local auto supply stores with no success. Thanks for any help or ideals. John G |

John, If you are willing to use plugs that don't look like original use either Autolite or Motocraft. They work real good and won't foul easily. For 1/2 pipe thread use Model "T" ford For 7/8ths straight thread use Model "A" ford For 18 MM use any early ford flathead V8. early 40's at a guess Reproduction 1/2 pipe Champion "X" or the 7/8ths straight thred reproduction don't work at all, unless you don't plan to run the engine. I put old ford sparkplugs in google and this was my first hit. http://www.automobiliausa.com/sparkplugs.html#ford They list the Autolite modern replacements. Hope this helps Ernie |

TRY DONALD McKINSEY, P.O.BOX 94 WILKINSON, INDIANA 46186 IF HE IS STILL COLLECTING, HE HAD SPARK PLUGS FROM 1917 TO 1950, JUST TELL HIM WHAT TYPE OF MOTOR YOU HAVE AND HE WILL SEND YOU A GUIDE OF WHAT HE HAS, ALSO ASK FOR ONE OF HIS CATALOGS. (28 PAGES OF SPARK PLUGS), SORRY I DO NOT HAVE AN E-MAIL ADDRESS OR A PHONE # AND I HAVE NOT PLACED AN ORDER WITH HIM FOR A FEW YEARS. |

I have a LAUSON "one lunger'" my late father in law removed from his sail boat in the late thirties/early forties. It is a "Type BM848-2, #11973. In your "Co's" listing you indicate a LAUSON CO. from MIllwalky, Ill. The plate on my engine says "Holsttein, Wis. Can anyone tell me more about this engine. I'm thinking of building an reproduction picnic launch around it. |

There were two Lauson Companies. A.H.Lauson in Milwaukee and John Lauson Manufacturing Company in New Holstein,Wisconsin. My notes- Old engine mfgr did not withstand the 1930's depression and was bought and reorganized in 1941 by Hart-Carter Co. of Peoria Illinois, made small air cooled engines untill sold to Tecumseh Products Co. in 1956 still using New Holstein plant. |
