Tom, Harry Munson in Red Wing has the largest collection of Red Wing engines anywhere. I would expect he would be an excellent reference for your inquiry.Phone 651-388-3391 or write po box 391, Red Wing, MN.55066 |

Tom, You should also try Bill Schaller from MN. He is a regular on this board and has a lot of Red Wing engines and info. I'm not sure of his email address off hand, maybe he will post it here. Regards, Andrew |

Yes, I think I got one of those laying out in the shed. it is my only Red Wing that isn't at least 50 years old. This motor was sold between 1955 and 1963, and Red Wing made 113 of them. The serial numbers start at 6001. Between 1953 and 1955 is the years that Red Wing Motor and MFG name was used. What info do you need? Bill |

We acquired it in an auction and was just looking for any info you could provide.. Had no idea there were so few made, were they made for a specific boat? Would this be considered a collector's item? If so, what would be its approximate value in running condition? Thanks Tom |

Hi. The former owner of my 1954 Phillip Rhodes 30' sloop removed the inboard engine and gear box, replacing it with an outboard. I got the plans from Mystic Seaport Museum and there I learned that the original engine was a Red Wing Meteor, but that's all the information I have. I am in the process of restoring the boat to her original looks, so if anyone knows of a red wing meteor engine, please get in touch. Thanks, |
