In "Unknown engines" There is a one cylinder engine that seems to have been built from a two cylinder outboard. This got me to thinking, I have the power head & some other parts from a two cylinder Caille outboard with one shot piston, I've been toying with the idea of turning it into an 'inboard', accept that an 'opposed two' inboard would be a bit odd. Maybe I could follow this converted engine's lead and create a one cylinder inboard also. Are thee any reasons why a "conversion" like this would not work?
Does anyone else agree that the "unknown" engine has the mixer hooked up to the exhaust port, (it has already been commented that the carburetor port is blocked off), so that there is now no 'exhaust port'? |

If you go back and look the exhaust ports are just below the horizontal pipe The are not blocked, but the manifold is missing making it hard to see, I do not believe that cylinder came on that block, the 2 cylinder rowboat motors only had one mixer, not one on each cylinder.
in any event I do believe you can build a motor by cobbling part together, I expect it will vibrate quite a bit. Motors like this are build for entertainment any way. |
