Ray was 93 and a very well respected man. He started at Palmer Bros. in 1934 and retired in 1968. I always tried to have him vet my material to make sure I was not too far out of line and he took great pleasure in reviewing and commenting. I wonder who can take his place. As far as I know all the principals are now gone and the three men I know of that had worked there in the 1950s are not all that knowledgeble of the company. I shall miss him. |

Dick, I am very sorry to hear about the death of Ray Bolling. In case anyone isn't aware of it, Greenwich, Connecticut Public Library published a book as part of their "Oral History Project". It is called: The Palmer Engine Company Oral History Interview with RAYNAL C. BOLLING, JR. by Marian Phillips Copyright 1994 The Greenwich Library Greenwich, Connecticut The interview was done in 1990. I was able to buy a copy some years ago by contacting the Greenwich Publich Library, I don't know if they are still available or not, but I would think they are. 27 pages including some pictures of engines and the factory. |
