This one is not in Grayson's books: Cowie engine by Schaake Machine Works, New Westminster, B.C. & Seattle WA. I'll post a photo a single that still exists. After more shrinking than a head-hunters trophy it's barely legible, sorry. Richard, I'd like to know how you get such great catalogue reproductions under the 50Kb rule??

Here's the single. The base/bed looks rather confusing in the photos, but I think it was oval in shape at the aft end. |

Schaake also built (c. 1915) an ohv poppet-valve engine called the "Western". It was available in trunk-piston or crosshead versions, and I believe it was marketed from Bellingham, WA. |

The illustrated 3-cyl Cowie is a trunk piston design, the color photo of the single shows a primitive crosshead setup. I'd sure like to see details of the "piston valves" employed. |
