I am rebuilding a couple of Palmer YT-1. One has the transmission attached. I need to know how much and what kind of oil goes into the transmission. Also how do you set the valve timing? I don't see any marks on the gears. Does anyone know where I can get a couple of head gaskets for this engine? Thanks, Richard |

Richard, I sent you the Palmer YT-1 manual yesterday. There is an article with it by Dick Day that covers valve timing. |

Peter Dibble surfaced a long lost engineering change on the Palmer YT-1. It appears some flywheel nuts are 5/8" 18 thread and some are 5/8" 20 thread. I have checked and found three crankshafts with 18 thread and two with 20 thd. One of the two with 20 thread is NOS but have no idea when it was made. I don't know why this difference I can only say its real. I suggest before trying to force an 18 thread on a 20 thread one get a thread gauge and check. I also suggest don't lose the old flywheel nut as makeing a classic castle headed nut would be an added complication. |
