Not sure if this is the right place to ask,but here goes. I have a 1926 palmer yt-1.It is in a boat I have inherited, runs well, and the only modification i can see is that it has an electric starter added sometime in it's past.As said,it runs nicely, alot smoother that I would have thought...appears to be in excellent condition.I have more interest in larger motors,so this one is not really up my alley ,and i would like to sell it.Anyone can give me a ball-park on the value of this?I can send pics for anyone interested or willing to help me out with pricing....I have done a google and can't find much info other than technicals. Thanx |

If it is original to the boat you destroy the real value of the boat and the engine by separating them. It is likely that a larger engine is not going to move the hull much faster if that is your intent. |

Hi Richard, Not to worry...am always interested about how big/what type a boat a YT-1 will push....Wondering if it was a launch, skiff, etc. Thanks. Matt |

The boat is a 15 foot, round in the mids, kinda fantailed, very shallow with a beam of about 42",decked fore and aft.According to my gps,it slipped along at about 5knots...but the slightest breeze slowed her down considerable.Due to 'puter failure I no longer have any pics. |

Hi Richard, The serial number is #2227626. It was found on the shores of Candlewood Lake in Connecticut along with the shaft and prop. Just enough wood was left to figure out it might have once been in something that floated. Rebuilt in the 1980's? Exhibited at Old Roxbury Days, and came to me in the '90's. I've run it intermittently since then. I don't know engines, but wonder if anyone in CT might offer some help fine tuning for both it and me. 'Has a non-original FM magneto. Would love to find Palmer YC gears that go with it. Thanks for your help... Matt |

Matt now I understand. No real boat engine relationship to make it a mistake to separate the two items. I have it listed in the Palmer listings I have only one YC reverse gear and it belongs to a 1924 YT-2 and I don't want to separate them. Small reverse gears are harder to find I think than engines. There are a lot of OXKB Paragons around and it should be a simple matter to adapt one with flange couplings on input and output. You might have to cut a little steel plate etc but you would have a very simple and very good reverse gear. |
