http://community.webshots.com/user/nivek_001 Sent to here for some Reasonably Knowedgeable Individuals to help me ID a Hercules gas engine I recently accquired. At the URL above in the WTF? folder is a set of pics of the tool on its shop made trailer. Engine is complete, heard it run last year at an auction sale. (new owner then took jackhammers on aft end, left rest of tool) Compressor part of this is a slightly smaller herc 6-cyl that has been adapted to providing pressure to the large tank on tail end of tool. There is a data plate on the engine, however I'll have to send son under to pop it off the block. Appreciated in advance for any help! Kevin L. NE OrYgunn |

That is really tough, herk made so many engines that were just larger or smaller versions of the same design. So it would be easyer to just read the engine tag. |

That engine should have numbers just above the oil pan on the right side. There should be a casting date and the first 2 letters of the engine model number. |
