My father was one of the owners of the Zip, a 32' sportfisher man built in 1933 at the Baldwin Boat Works in Baldwin, NY. I would be interested to hear from anyone who is familiar with this boat and who might know her whereabouts. She sank in 1976 during Hurricane Nell and was later refloated and cut down into a clam boat. After speaking with the daughter of the late Dick Conkling, a former Great South Bay Constable in Great River, I learned that the Zip was later owned by a man named Frank, who was a groundskeeper at the Timberpoint CC. To further confuse the issue, I was later told the Zip was a Samuel Verity Skiff. Any information would be extremely helpful. Thank you, Steven Nester |
