I know it's probably a very long shot, but does anyone have the upper portion of a timer I need on a Mullins one cylinder?
Hope the pictures I've posted make it- one is of my broken timer handle, and the other is of what I need.
My only other option, I guess, is to pour the piece. I've poured a little brass, but this piece would definitely be way over and above any skill I have as of now.
Thanks for any help or suggestions on a fix.

Hello
I have three Mullins/Roberts 6hp two cylinder engines, but only one intact original timer.
The one and two cylinder timers seem to use identical castings. Only the "innards" are changed for the second cylinder.
Bought one of the engines just to get a complete timer, but it was busted during shipping, Darn!

This seems like one of those cases where a part is so destined to get broken that it is legit to perform a workmanlike repair.
If it was mine I'd bore a hole in a flat piece of brass to match the diameter of the timer. I'd cut that circle in two or cut a 1/4 of it out (what ever it takes to have clearance to the head). Then solder the well fitting piece to the timer body. Using files blend the wrapped around part into the body in a pleasing taper and shape the handle similiar to original.
Aything would be more pleasing then the 10-32 hardware store bolt!
It would be nice if the bronze/brass repair handle was close enough in composition to the original so that you could patina them to a similair look.
All that siad I am in an armchair and realistically am a very poor mechanic! |

Hark, have sent you an email-THANKS for the consideration.
David, excellent suggestion, if I can't obtain an original part.
I'm not too bad of a shade tree mechanic, and can even weld and braze, etc., but pretty has never been a term used to describe my welding OR brazing.
A grinder and file are two of my best friends in the shop.
