Am searching for the marine engine company which used the phrase, "takes you there and brings you back." It was a single cylinder inboard (flywheel type, domed cylinder), which had the unique quality of giving you reverse direction by the retarding of the timing, adjusting the throttle, advancing the timing to create a backfire. All which gave you reverse by now, running the engine backwards. Was advertised in Popular Mechanics at least through the '40s into the 1950s. Was mainly used in smaller open boats. Thanks for any info you can pass along. Warren Walters [email protected] |
