Would anyone have information on Vinco marine engines or their maker?I have a 21/2 HP? single two stroke in my 11' 6" clinker launch. The engine was made by Vincent Brothers(1924 - 54?) of Glebe NSW Australia. Engine pamphlets, tech specs and info on the company itself would be appreciated |

The cylinders are no longer available but you could be lucky and find a second hand one with a stationary engine guy as many of these marine enegines were also used to drive pumps and generators in the country hence they survived longer as they are not exposed to salt water corrosion. Try advertising in the Old Machiney Magazine (TOMM) - do a google seach in Australia and you'll readily find their website. |

Hi All, I have soaked my 2 1/2 hp Vinco in mollasses and diesel for many months and now have it apart - EXCEPT that the piston is well and truly seized. The tip in regard to making up wedges about the conrod is one option the other the tip in regard to a pipe to slide down the cylinder and heat up the head I assume from the outside with oxy. Can anyone provide any further help before I embark on these drastic steps. Regards, Evan |

Evan .....see if you can use a less drastic method . Soak the cylinder in Diesel also auto transmission oil is good . The gently tap the piston with a wooden punch and a reasonably heavy hammer . Get a little move ment and you are winning. |

Hi guys. I'm a first-time poster to the forum. I recently acquired a Vinco two stroke inboard and would like to ask two questions: First, how can I tell whether it is a 2-1/2 or 4HP engine? Also, what is the right spark plug for this engine. It came with a KLG A10 two-piece 7/8" plug. What would the correct Champion plug be for unloaded demos at rallies? (only pumping its own coolant around). I figured something like a 3-com or 20 would be hot enough. Any ideas on this? Many thanks ... Frank |
