The following was sent by Dick Day regarding Bill Burton's Palmer L-4:

A find I never thought we would ever see. Eric, Now you know what you have to make. I don't think the intake manifold is original below the exhaust manifold. I think it would have been brass pipe or even a bronze casting in keeping with their practice in those years.
Looking forward to hear/seeing what it looks like inside. How is the cam shaft supported? How many crank bearing supports? Probably one in the middle. No oil pump just those drip oilers. Looking forward to seeing reverse gear details. Doesn't seem to be cracked so Bill better not let it dry out in the water jackets.
I understand this has been outside for years. Perhaps it was used in brackish water so no serious salt in the water jacket. Ernie note the clamps on top of the atmospheric valves are precisely the same as that odd ball green engine that was probably a Palmer.
