This is an old marine engine my dad & I have that I was wondering if anyone knew for sure what it was? It was found in Michigan but I don't have any other history on it. The only stamping I've found on it is "91". The way the cylinder cover plates bolt on each side of the cylinder reminds me of early Sintz engines; would it be a 1904 Sintz? The 1905 Sintz "Leader" engines from Grand Rapids had a 5-spoke flywheel but the 1905 Sintz had domed-top cylinder looked different than this engine. The engine stands about 23" tall & it's flywheel is about 13-1/2" outside diameter. Any info is appreciated, thanks, -Nick

The engine on the left is a 1-1/2 hp Claude Sintz engine that was made in Grand Rapids, MI. It has the air-cooled head & a 2-bolt mount on water pump/water inlet. Our unknown engine is probably 3 hp & was found about 120 miles away from Grand Rapids. There are a lot of differences from the Claude Sintz engine shown but it has the air-cooled head, the 2-bolt water inlet & the 5-hole spoke flywheel. Claude's dad, Clark, also from Grand Rapids, used bolt-on cover plates on the front & back sides of the cylinder shown on the engine on the right which the unknown engine has. Does anyone know for sure what the unknown engine is? I'd like to see what the original carb was & it'd be nice to get another unknown identified. Thanks.
