i have a 1975 MD6A that isn't getting any cooling water. I have traced it back to the transmission cooling jacket being blocked. i opened up the three openings on the transmission and tried forcing water in with a garden hose. and the back flushing it with 90 pounds of air pressure. The engine has sat unused in salt water for two years, the previous owner said he noticed the cooling water output slowing down. is there some way to flush out the transmission without removing it from the boat. thanks for the help, dick |

You say, "...unused in salt water" does that mean it has been under salt water? |

Hi. Just came across your post because I have an MD6B that had also had reduced water flow out of the exhaust and over the weekend stopped spitting water altogether. Luckily, I was able to sail almost all the way back and didn't overheat the motor. Did you fix your problem? If so, what did you do? Thanks! |
