Hello,
need help from the experts.
I am in the process of restoring my Gray Marine engine.
The pistons need to be changed. They are a little loose in the cylinders. I see that on the head of the pistons the specs is engraved "090". Somewhere I read that Phantom Four 45 had "0,91" specs. Could the pistons have been changed with the wrong kind? Does anyone know, if I need to put slightly larger pistons, what increment is above "090"? "100"?
Also I am after the colour code for the green-blue-gray these engines were painted with.
Thank you for any help you could provide.

Measure them. Quite possibly they are .060" oversize right now.

Quite right about being .060! I was looking at the digits from the wrong side!!
I know now where to get these pistons and will put sleeves in to make them tight again.

Anyone knows the colour code for the Gray Marine engines?

Thanks Bruce. I think you are right about the Detroit Diesel engine colour. A sort of Alpine green. What I need is to find the colour code, so I can replicate the colour here in Europe as it is impossible to import paint from the US.

Anyone knows how to get a hold of Dave Van Ness at Van Ness Engineering? I have sent him an email, left messages on his answering machine, but to no avail. Perhaps a cell phone?

Antoine, did you find the paint color yet? "Dupli-Color" DE1618 Detroit Diesel Alpine Green, sold in the US in a rattle can, is nearly an exact match for Graymarine.
