Hi everybody, Just joined the forum. I'm from The Netherlands, and in the process of restoring a Penta F1 (1939-1947), see pictures attached. Will keep you updated on progress, current 1st step is put the cilinder head back and do a trial run. I have several questions maybe you can help out with: - Placing back cilinder head: i'll be placing back the cilinder head on its original copper gasket. Are there any tricks to ensure it gets fully sealed again (ie to avoid having cooling water leaks etc). - Carburetor: you can see a Solex 30MOVD mounted now, which is not the original carburettor. It should be a copy of the schebler model D as far as I could retrace. Does anybody know: * if that is really true? * what company would have made that copy (penta themselves?)? * And if / how I can still purchase one of these (or a schebler model D ofcourse as that will probably also work) - how 'carburettor'sensitive are these machines? I.e. will it run fine with the Solex 30 MOVD probably or is that a too big carburettor for this machine? I also have a Solex26NV lying around I could try, if that would be a better match. - magneto: is this the original type (Bosch or SEM K-1) or what type should have been fitted? Thanks for any help, questions also welcome! kind regards, Ewout
