This is another recent restoratiuon of a DisPro (do you get the sense that I like DisPro boats?) and, OK I admit it guys, it ain't pre-1940 - mea maxima culpa - but I thought youlike to see the evolution of the power units for these boats. The bearded guy in the picture is himelf - Paul Dodington.
The engine is from 1953 and the interesting tale on this one , is that the valve timing and the ignitio timing were set very far advanced so it was hard to start and would only run fast. And since none of the bolt heads were chewed up , the guess is that it came from the factory in the UK this way. This was the era of "I'm all right Jack" in the UK and the suspicion is that some disgruntled worker assembled it this way.
