Hi,
I am restoring a 65' trawler built in
Bellingham, Washingham by Master Builder George Wrang. She was built in a Sahome Dock shipyard.
I have been tracking down her history. According to
George Wrangs daughter and one of the builders she was originally powered by a Standard gas engine.
Where can I find out more about these engines.
She is currently CAT prwered(1939)
The boats name is Renfrew. She is currently operating in San Diego. She is on the mywoodenboat webpage as "Friendship".

Ed,
What year was your boat built? How about giving us the link to your site.
There was a STANDARD GAS ENGINE COMPANY in Oakland California, and a STANDARD MOTOR CONSTRUCTION COMPANY in Jersey City, NJ. Yours was probably from Oakland.
The Standard engines from Oakland were known as "Frisco Standard". There are not many of those engines left. Do you know what horsepower or how many cylinders?
The Maritime Museum in San Francisco has some original Standard catalogs and literature in their library collection.
There was an article in Gas Engine Magazine in January 1996 that was a brief history of the company. I will post one page of it below, but you probably won't be able to read it. I can email you the whole article (three pages) or you can contact GEM for a reprint.

Hello,well i might as well jump in here,if it was made in bellingham i would guess that it was a frisco powering this boat,they were pretty much of a fixture in the nortwest and the salmon caneries around here,here is a pic of a 4 hp frisco,it came out of a 28 foot non planing hull on the columbia river
