My reason for commenting on it NOT being a Fairbanks Morse is the people I mentioned it to all said "oh a Fairbanks Morse" |

I have a turn of the century Fairbanks catalog. They were a big one if not the biggest industrial wholesalers in the country. They sold everything from flat belts to locomotives. The bound volume is about 3-4" thick. They marketed my Victor make and break marine engine about 1910 and of course the Bates and Edmunds famous Bull Dog line of stationary engines. |

I would say the world. Look at the tag info above. I just did and there is Germany, France, England and Scotland. Yup I would agree "a big company" |

My Dad worked for the Fairbanks Morse Co. for 30 years ending in 1948. He was what they called a scale trouble shooter. He traveled all over New England by steam train. Repaired scales that weighed trucks and railroad cars in the paper mills. Fairbanks was quite a company then. |
