Found this on an iron hunt! I think its 40 hp Lathrop but not 100% sure. What I do know is that it was recovered from near Churchill Lake way up here in northern Maine in the 1970's. It was originally used by the Madawaska Co. to power a boom boat and was last used in 1933 when they abandoned their logging operations in the region. Looking through corporate documents they list four Lathrop 40 hp engines.(s/n 3276, 3576, 3701 & 3706)in an inventory so I am assuming its one of these engines. It never ran in salt water so that's a plus but it does have some broken castings - the worst of which is about 1" down on the front cylinder block and extends a considerable way around. Thanks! Best regards, Terry |
