Trying to ID Sterling Mtr Co Detroit light car/cyclecar 4cyl engines from Sterling Marine Buffalo 4s... A 1917 ring catalog lists models 4, 5 (1913), 7,8 (1914), model 16 (1915), model 19 (1915-16) and model 20 (1916-17), ALL 4Cyl There's also a 1917 listing for"E2,10" 4cyl and a 1916 listing for a model 4 8Cyl... I assume the E2 and the 8cyl have to be Buffalo marine, but some googling failed to find any period Sterling marine ads etc using the number ID, only letter ID... Hoping for illumination... |

My apologies for not updating this earlier... The 8 mentioned above is probably not Sterling-Buffalo marine, bit a Sterling-Detroit auto V8 that was designed, and at least a prototype built as it was described and pictured in a 1915 trade journal during the early V8-auto frenzy... |
