What kind of marine engine is this? What application was it used, and what period of time was it made?

It was likely made in the 1910 period - may not be a marine engine because it does not have an eccentric for a water pump, plus its base would place it quite high up in the hull.
.
It was likely an engine used to power a water pump and got its cooling water from the big pump.
But it could be a derivative of a marine engine or the other way around.
It probably had a Schebler 1 in. carb originally.
Richard D or Ernie should be able to narrow the ID of the engine, if derived from a marine engine.
