* The Hydro Glider was just one of the many names and types of the original and patented design of "SEA SLEDS" different designs and engines of sea sleds are mentioned in several marine articles. I now remember that in reading MIAMI,Florida history (my hometown) That Carl Fisher the man that formed the Prest-O-Lite company also the primary drive behind the making of the Indianapolis speedway came to Miami and developed Miami Beach. he made the Venetian causeway by dredging and forming islands and connecting Miami to his isles and Miami Beach, on one of these islands he had a rather large storage boathouse and in the 1930's it housed several of the SEA Sleds, I recall reading many yrs ago that one of the sleds had a Buda engine and one had an aero air cooled engine, I have forgotten the others. * |
