Finally finished my little 2hp Detroit probably about a 1911-1912 model or later. Still has some of the original green paint on it. Purchased this engine from another collector David & Shelby Babcock out of Ohio. The engine was in great shape internally. Just had to clean a mouse nest out of the exhaust manifold condenser, replace a broke water pump arm which I was very lucky to have found another at Cool Springs show. Added a muffler, new nitrophyl float in the fuel reservoir, machined a new brass knob for the exhaust condenser and did a few other minor things. Before and after photo's shown. Working on doing a short video of it running now. should be posted on YouTube soon.

Looks great, you usually don't find them that complete.

Looks just right, glad it didn't get repainted. Any video of it running?

Thank's for the compliments. I did a video but was not happy with the way it came out so I'm doing it over. I'll post a link when I get it done. Getting ready now for up coming engine show (Florida Flywheelers).

Very nice indeed, but what happened to the "Builders of Stationary Engines" tag that became "Builders of Marine Engines"?!

Wasn't the first tag the original and if so, why change it?

Hard to say if the first tag was original or not. The Detroit tags were known for cracking in the middle so it very well could have been replaced with the stationary tag. I like the marine tag that's on it now better so that is what is. Give it a few month's and the tag will be tarnished over just like the other. Thank you for the compliment.

I have a couple very similar to that, but both of them have been messed with, and I am unsure of their original layout. When I get to retirement, I will pull them out, and probably restore them back to injectors.

Bill, three more years for me and I'm retiring end of 2019. I'll have 39 years working for the rocket factory. Great photo's, The last photo stationary Sandow engines a 2.5 hp, is that a 4 or 6hp Sandow? Think you new that last photo would make me drool. LOL. Also what is the stationary in the back ground? Is that a Otto or Duetz? Would like to have that large vertical Sandow in my collection. Ever decide to sell please let me know. The Detroit marine engines could be purchased from the factory with just about any carb, mixer you wanted on one. Including the Detroit injector/reservoir. So hard to say how your Detroit marine engines were originally.

John,

Those two are not mine, they are at the Albany MN show. I assume the big one is a 6 hp, but I forgot to measure the flywheel. I will next time I am up there.
