I have a gray marine model 620 I have been told that these blocks were probably made for old forklifts also. I beleive that it is an old continetal block [sp] but i am unable to get a number off if it [badly rusted} the head number is f400a e205 55 can anyone help me out here. I am trying to find a good block either marine or old fork lift and convert it thanks JOHN

Thats a 4 cylinder F series engine. They made them in 124,142and162 ci.I think the correct ci. is in one of the other posts or andrew has it.Catipillar now owns the company. They are some of the most common engines around used in tractors welders forklifts, sprayers etc.I have one with only 25 hours on it,but i am saveing it for one of my projects.

You might have to switch alot of parts or it might not work at all.I have never seen one like yours in person.I do know that the generator/welder engines do NOT have the flywheel or crank drilled out for the pilot bearing needed for clutches.

tHANKS lARRY FOR YOUR HELP. i CAN SEE THAT A LOT MORE RESEARCH MIGHT BE NEEDED BEFORE I JUST RUN OUT AND BUY AN OLD F SERIES BLOCK AND REBUILD IT.bUT IS IT POSSIBLE THAT MY CRANK AND COMPONANTS WOULD FIT INTO THE BLOCK THAT. tHINKING THAT I HAVE THE RIGHT CRANK, ONLY GOT TO KNOW IF THE BEARING ARE GOING TO LINE UP PROPERLY.................................john
