As far as capacity, doing a search here I found an old post that Ernie used a gallon on his 2 stroke in about 5 hours at Mystic, other than that no idea what the best capacity should be for my YT1 but thinking 2 or 3 gals. But no idea what to use for a tank. For less capacity, a British Seagull "long range" tank is 1.2 US gallons and they come up available once in a while (if dented). But looking for ideas. |

Go to eBay and search on hit & miss gas tank and you will find several that would work well in a boat. |

Thanks RB I looked, and there were a couple and also some small tractor tanks (all tin). But for short term, I purchased a British Seagull brass fuel tank for about $30. It's brass, has fitting for fuel valve/nipple, a cap, and and threaded studs for easy mounting. I have another option for when I actually build the boat that is also brass and larger but a little out of my price range at the moment so the Seagull tank will do for now. |

Just an update hope it doesnt get lost in all the bustling activity here ;) The Seagull tank uses 1/8" British Taper Pipe Thread. I just learned about that when looking for a petcock with screen for the tank. I found one on ebay pretty cheap (the seller bought and then didnt use it). Not positive its the correct thread. I am tempted to drill and tap for 1/4" NPT instead (there appears enough material in the bung for this). But I still would like a screen inside the tank. This tank is small and will probably be replaced when the engine finds a boat to go into, but good for display and out-of-boat test runs etc. |

Thanks Ernie, actually I *think* the tank should have a pickup screen in-tank, and I wonder if that adapter will accommodate that or allow one to be fitted. I may buy some brass screen, roll it, pinch the end, solder it and see if it can be soldered into that. Or better yet, get a brass tubing at a hobby shop to make a stub, then do the rest as described.

Those mounting stud nuts are also BSF. Stop by your local brit motorcycle shop or jaguar dealer and grab a couple. One thing you need in your spares kit is a cork gasket for that tap. Get a few and figure how to swap em. If yours leaks first try boiling the works. That often restores em. Do not alter that tap or tank. Neither come cheap when you need em. |

Drilled out the adapter and soldered in a brass tube. Waiting for some brass screen to arrive which will pass gasoline not water... I will make a "sock" and solder that on this. |

The water-blocking brass screen arrived today. I had a hard time getting it to absorb solder for some reason, but managed to cobble together this. Will improve later, but it should suffice except for the looks. |

Figured out an easy way to mount a Seagull tank. This is not for in the boat, but rather on dry land etc.
