We have a 2H Sabb, 4100+ hours, keel cooler, two blade pitching prop, in very good condition with major work done in 2013 including, valve job, front crank shaft seal and seal ring replace , fuel injectors new, fuel lines new, fuel pump rebuilt, water and cooling pumps rebuilt, new shaft coupling. The engine starts without hesitation after 3-5 revolutions even in colder weather (low 50s - sorry does not get that cold in SF) without use of the glow plugs. Runs great, sounds great, no leaks of any fluids. no smoke and does not burn oil. Manual, specifications, and parts catalog on the Sabb website at http://nettbutikk.sabb.no/Kundestotte/Fremdriftsmotorer/SABB/default.aspx

We have put about 150 trouble-free hours on it since we got the boat - a Freedom 40, which at 22,000 lbs displacement still makes around 6 knots in flat water, no wind.... and a heck of a lot slower if the breeze and waves are up. Thus we are considering upgrading from the current 18hp to something larger... We are hauled out at the present and I am considering a new engine if the sale of this one works out.

There is an extensive inventory of new and used spare parts, easily in excess of $2k. This includes a new 48" long complete drive train from the prop coupling back (everything except the stuffing box), spare prop blades, new fuel lines, new spare injector, governor rebuilt kit, starter rebuild kit, pump diaphragms and sprins and valves, thermostat, gaskets (head, valve cover, thermostat, fuel pump, exhaust manifold, governor, etc) A list can be provided upon request.

This engine was lovingly maintained by the original owner for most of its life, the second owner did it no good or harm, it is now back up to par and as Sabb in Norway told us - @ 4000 hours just broken in. They really do run forever, easy to maintain and work on, sip fuel, and parts are available.

It weights about 400lbs, shipping is from SF area. Given the condition of the engine and parts that come with it, 4500 seems fair. Please feel free to contact me at bad.wabbit (at) gmail.com

Erik, Sorry to hear you want to give up on the 2 H. ( When do you find NO wind in SF bay) My 33 FT Atkin wooden Schooner moves about the same pace, In fact over 20 Knots, the boat does not want to back out of the slip- but at my age I think the boat is correct,

Make sure you let Bill Miller knows you want to sell. and ask who else you could contact- especially in Seattle and Vancouver

On shipping - I paid $800 to bring a 2H from Seattle to CT.
