Recently purchased a 38 Century with a Gray marine 4-75 that overheats quickly. Also noted water in the oil when I changed it. What should I consider? Head gasket? Leaking from oil cooler? |

First check the water flow out the exhaust pipe. See how much flow and how hot it is. When you fire it up how long does it take to get water out the pipe? |

Thx Jim, after 1/2 turn on the grease cup to prime the pump, some water does come out within 30 seconds. I havent owned it long enough to know how much should be coming out. The previous owner had a reinforced clear line on the water line before going into the exhaust to be sure water did flow. On my second trip out that line melted within 10 minutes. |

Sounds like there was a water flow issue and the last owner knew it. Time to fix it right. |
