I am working on a 2 cylinder gray that belongs to a friend . The serial number is 3789 , It has a carb for each cylinder . Can any one tell me what year this engine is , and how do I find what model it is . There is no tag .Thank you , Glen |

Ernie , I have the engine running now . I need information on the water lines . How the are plumed to the exhaust manifold . |

Here are Glen's pics.
The serial number 3789 is on the flywheel face
He is open to suggestions for the water out into the exshaust.
I don't see an exhaust manifold so I guess it would be plumbed the same as 2 singles. Just dump the water in downstream in a way that it can't come back into the engine.
I am assuming that the water out is the down pipe on the front of each cylinder.

Nice motor, first I've seen of that model. The twins I've seen have all been cast in one block, must be an early one. |

I think it is an early one , We are trying to find the HP and year . If anyone can help . I don't have the exhaust manifold on because i need to put the rod oiler on and the manifold will be in the way . My friend got the engine several years ago with the pistons stuck . I freed the up and had it running , but my friend can't find the can with the gray oilers in so I am at a stand still . did the manifold take water from only one cylinder for cooling ? I can't find a picture that shows the plumbing on the exhaust , and i didn't take it apart . Thank you for any information , Glen |

With this engine having a 4 digit serial number is it possible it is a DuBrie engine ? None of the specs I have found on Gray engines do not match the measurements on this engine . |

Gray Motor Company sold their first marine engines in 1906, the engines were designed and manufactured by Stanley Dubrie, The Gray motor Co.name was cast into the flywheel.
1906 DuBrie
1907 was the first engine that was a Gray design and manufacture and was sold only in 1907, by 1908 newer designs the model R and S were marketed.
Your twin above is a 1907 Gray marine Engine, I know of six or seven of these engines all singles but yours is the only twin I have seen !

Richard , Thank you for the information , I keep finding conflicting information and had no idea what we had . Do you have any idea of the horse power ? Many years ago a friend bought this engine for $10 because he liked all the brass on it . We have the original Gray oilers , if we can locate them in the garage . Thanks again , Glen |

The single in above ad is 6 Hp so I would assume
12 Hp on a twin.
