1951 Bucanan flat head 6cyl was changed to electric ignition and have lost distributot timing would like to know which is the #1 cylinder so I can find top dead center then set ditributor,

#1 & #6 should go to tdc at the same time, wouldn't make any difference which you used. Bring one of them up to tdc compression stroke and point the rotor to that cylinder. Most inline six engines fired 153624. After you get one of the end cylinders on tdc compression, see which cylinder comes up on compresion next, that should ID which cylinder you were on.

Thanks this was great help. I went to Aywlings Marina in Merckville Ont with this and we had it started within 1/2hr.I was off by one cyl and just skipped wires on the distibutor by one cyl and every thing seems to good. A little fuel issues now (old) but cleaning will fix this, Again thks.

looking for replacement manifold for Bucanan Metore flathead 6. Any ideas?
