I am interested in purchasing an old 35 foot steel john pugh yatch. It has a 3/4 keel with around a 5 foot draft. I will never sail it and was going ot put in a small 4 cyl diesel and use it as a motor cruiser enventually. I really needed a shallower draught and i was wondering if anybody would know the problems if i reduce the keel to a more standard size draft of around 1 metre. One fellow said it might bob around too much in the water but couldnt be sure. I have limited cash for initial purchase so i cant be too choosy. But if it is going to bob around too much then i wouldnt cut hte keel. Do these boats bob around with the keel intack and standard. I could live with the 5 foot draft if it was going to sit well in the water but not if it was a bobbing around vessel. I really wish i knew more about these vessels so i was hoping someione might be able to help please. The boat is on ebay and is item number 321755373399 |
