I have a 1959 Gray Marine model 109 engine in my 19' Lyman runabout and the manual specifies 30W oil. I have not been able to find a supplier. They have 40W and could that weight oil be used?
Also is it advisable to use 30W automobile oil? |

I am living in Switzerland an I am using motoroil from MILLER'S OILS. They have many different oils for classic and vintage engines. Miller's oils is located in England but they have a Distributor in US. Check out the link below:

Crankcase oil that is specified for gasoline engines only should not be used in diesel engines. This is pointed out as many as 5 times on a bottle including the API rating which starts with a "C" for diesel ratings and "S" for gasoline ratings. Diesel oils will often carry ratings for both gasoline and diesel engines. 30 weight oil should be readily available as it is still a commonly used oil even though multi-viscosity has been preferred for the last 50 years and even mandated in more recent times. What area are you in that you are trying to obtain it ? |
